Wanted to share with you the transformation my CL9 went thru...it took quite some time to get the car to the current stage, but the car is nearly finished.

So, back to the beginning...

Originally I was looking for a Type-S, since I like the car a lot with the Type-S kit. However at the time, I was not able to find a decent one.

Anyhow, I realised that I had to extend my search pattern and so I included the Executive version. There were quite a few options I like about the Exec, in particular the window roof, leather seats and navigation system, which does not come stock on the Type-S. I figured I can always get me the kit afterwards.

So eventually I found myself buying a stock Satin Silver Executive 2.4L.

First mod was to get rid of the towbar. Did not like it a single bit. Thank goodness this guy at the Honda Dealer did not mind cutting it off.

While I was at it, I put the 17" BuddyClub rims on i, since I still had them from my old Civic Type R (EP3).

As I have a weakness for the Type R's, I replaced the standard H logo with the red H badge.

Then came the Type-S kit, I ordered the aftermarket kit, fitment wasnt too bad, but could better... :wall:

The front was 95% fit, rear 80%, and the side skirts were 70%. So as you can imagine, it required a bit of work to get this straightened out.

As I felt the 17" were a bit too small, I purchased the FN2 wheels and put them on the car.

And offcourse every car I owned sofar had to be lowered. This time the CL9 was lowered with H&R springs:

I did not like the blue marble interior pieces, so I decided to wrap them with 3M Carbon Fibre. A big improvement in my honest opinion.

As I got annoyed with the poor fitment of the aftermarket Type-S kit, I decided to order a brand new original set from Honda. Offcourse the fitment of these parts are 100%.

Then the big transformation happened. Since my old EP3 was silver, and this CL9 was silver as well, I wanted to go for another color. the car's paint was actually in very good shape, but since I was so madly in love with Championswhite (NH-0), I finally decided to do a full repaint of the car.

PS: just before the repaint started, I sold the Buddyclubs, and got me the 18" Tenzo R DC5 wheels. The FN2 ones are a bit too decent for my taste.

Here some pics of the sanding and repainting:

Result after the paint job, as you may have noticed, the roof is black. I decided to go for this black roof, since I have the roof window on it as well, so black on black is a good match.

I asked the painter to repaint my FN2 wheels as well. Here is how it looks mounted on the CL9.

With this picture I wonder why Honda never launched the Honda Accord Type-R for this generation (why the Euro-R in Japan only??). I think they could have pulled it off!!

A small detail after the paint job was to get the Executive grill exchanged with the Type-S grill + the Euro-R badges for the front and back of the car.

I also added the Spoon style trunk spoiler in the meantime.

Then came the exhausts. I just changed the rear exhausts pipes and decided not to go for the full front/back catback conversion, because of the potential noise that would come out of the catback system (I wanted to keep the noise low). End result is that blue goes very well with white :repekt:

I wanted to go for a more sporty look, so I decided to repaint the Tenzo R rims in matt black and matched the calipers in gold. Looked ok to me. Now finally the car was starting to look a bit more racy.

After a long search finally could not resist to get me a set of 18" Mugen GP wheels. Still madly in love with these wheels.

Offcourse, nice wheels need nice calipers :party1:. Spoon 4pot calipers with Endless brake discs/pads

What a major improvement in braking power and braking consistency!!

In case you were wondering how often I change my wheels: Yes, I change my wheels dependent on the mood I am in!

Although the handling of the car was decent with the H&R springs, I wanted to lower the car even further. BC Racing BR suspension + Ingalls rearcamberkit mounted.

Mugen windows visors were put on the car as well. Did I mention the amber cornerlights as well (USDM style)...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v669/vtecmoon/CL9/5.jpg

Then the Mugen virus got me again and finally found this 2nd Gen Mugen bumper for the CL9 (tx to this forum!!)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v669/vtecmoon/CL9/MTECFront.jpg

Then a pic of the bumper after it was fixed and repainted. At the time I also requested the painter to redo my front bonnet as well, just so the grill area would flow nicely with the bonnet curves...(ie the bonnet was to smoothen out chrome strip and make it one with the bonnet, just like the face lift model).

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v669/vtecmoon/CL9/CL9MugenBumper01.jpg

And then finally we were able to mount the bumper on the CL9. The black parts on the bumper are wrapped with 3M Carbon Fibre.

This is the progress sofar. Whats next? Still looking for a decent rear roof spoiler.

Engine wise I wont be doing much, since the gain does not seem to be that great, unless I go for supercharge or turbo. We will see what the future brings...
